Sorry for the lack of blogging lately - it's now back up and running so do leave your views and news here for everybody to read!
Some exciting news - S3 now has a wormery (courtesy of Ilhan Rahman in 7CRE who won the Petchey Award!). You're very welcome to come and have a look. The giant gippsland earthworm is the longest earthworm. They are found in Australia and are over 80cm long!!!!!

ReplyDeleteWorms have no fewer than 5 HEARTS!! They don't have any lungs, they breath through their skin as long as it stays moist. SO DON'T PICK BY HAND BECAUSE IT'S BREATHING!!! LOL

ReplyDeleteThere are approximately 2,700 different kinds of earthworms.The largest earthworm ever found was in South Africa and measured 22 feet from its nose to the tip of its tail.The Australian Gippsland Earthworm grows to 12 feet long and can weigh 1-1/2 pounds.
ReplyDeleteEven though worms don’t have eyes, they can sense light, especially at their anterior (front end). They move away from light and will become paralyzed if exposed to light for too long (approximately one hour).
